The Lady Sarojin, an opulent private yacht, offering luxurious and memorable experiences

There are few things more picturesque than a Thai sunset and for the ultimate sundown experience on the water our Magic of the Khao Lak “Everglades” excursion is an absolute must!

Departing in the late afternoon from our soft, white sand beach outside the resort, you will be whisked away aboard the Lady Sarojin towards Khao Lak’s “everglades” mangrove forest and Pakarang Bay for a sea adventure with a jungle twist.  Watch the tranquil sunset while sailing the waves and spotting some of our local wildlife, then return by moonlight for a magical evening sure to create unforgettable memories.

What’s more, there’s freshly made cocktails and delicious canapés served on board the private charter adding an extra splash of luxury while meandering the beautifully unique mangroves that are so precious to our ecosystem here in Khao Lak.

The importance of mangroves…

The term ‘mangrove’ refers to vegetation such as shrubs and small trees that can be seen growing along the coastline. They dominate many coastal areas in tropical and subtropical locations around the world and act as a vital link between the land and sea. It’s thought that mangroves cover an approximate area of 150,000 km2 worldwide, with Khao Lak home to at least 60 km2 – much of which you can explore!

But why are mangroves so important? Like coral reefs, mangroves are extremely productive ecosystems crucial for the marine environment. Mangroves capture the falling leaves and debris from the land creating rich habitats brimming with nutrients for a variety of animals including fish, shrimp, crab and mollusc species.

As well as admiring the mangroves from the Magic of the Khao Lak “Everglades” excursion, you can also get hands-on in helping us to maintain them during your stay.

How you can help…

With many travellers now wanting to help with conservation and participate in sustainability initiatives during their holidays, our guests at The Sarojin have the chance to help give back to the local community and join our team on our regular Sarojin Cares Days volunteering outside of the resort.

A regular excursion in the initiative is to the Mangrove Forest Planting Project in Baan Nam Kem, which was set up by local fishermen following the 2004 tsunami. Here, we invite guests to help in planting new trees and restoring the vital mangrove ecosystem which was damaged by the disaster – a truly rewarding way to complete your stay!

The Sarojin Cares Days are free to join but donations are welcomed to The Sarojin Khao Lak Community Fund*.

From mid-October to early May Lady Sarojin is moored outside the residence, accessible from our beach – for the rest of the year, she rests at Yacht Haven in Phuket. The Magic of Khao Lak´s Everglades excursion can be booked through our team and starts from THB 3,200 (approx. £79) per person for a group of up to 12 people or THB 16,000 (approx. £394) for private hire.

Established in December 2004 The Sarojin Khao Lak Community Fund*, which was initially set up to help rebuild the communities surrounding our resort in the wake of the devastating Boxing Day tsunami, continues to contribute to a number of worthy local projects in Khao Lak. From providing medical provision for prosthetic limbs and supporting local orphanages with childcare, to building school classrooms, roads and covering the cost of a full-time veterinary surgeon to care for the local wildlife, there’s such a huge variety of ways our fund gives back to those closest to us. Guests are encouraged to donate to the fund during their stay, with 100% of the money raised distributed to local community projects.
