20 Years of Heartfelt Hospitality at The Sarojin

November 24, 2025

October 2025 marked a truly special milestone for all of us at The Sarojin: 20 years since we first opened our doors in Khao Lak on 7 October 2005.

Nestled along an 11-kilometre stretch of soft white sand on the Andaman coast, our boutique residence has always been about more than luxury escapes. From the beginning, it’s been about meaningful moments, genuine connections, heartfelt service and a sense of belonging that lingers long after you leave.

To celebrate two decades of home-from- home hospitality, we’ve been reminiscing about the many wonderful guests who’ve become part of The Sarojin family over the years. You’ll often hear our team say “welcome home” – and we mean it. We feel incredibly fortunate to have so many guests return year after year, sharing countless memories with us, from engagements, weddings and anniversaries to quiet escapes for rest, reflection and renewal.

Looking back fills us with deep gratitude, but it’s the journeys still to come that inspire us most: continuing to welcome guests, old and new, while nurturing a more sustainable tomorrow for our community and environment.

Our Story in Moments

From the outset, founders Kate and Andrew understood that creating something truly lasting in Khao Lak meant honouring local culture, nature and craftsmanship. With just 56 guest residences nestled within ten acres of lush tropical gardens, each stay was designed to tell its own story.

Over the years, The Sarojin has welcomed couples, romantics, honeymooners, families and friends – and, in recent years, a growing number of solo travellers – each drawn to its beauty, calm and deeply restorative escape. Every guest is welcomed as part of The Sarojin family, with warmth, attentiveness and a feeling of belonging that endures.

Moments of calm and connection have always been at the heart of The Sarojin experience. From the award-winning Pathways Spa, a tranquil sanctuary nestled among the palms, to Michelin-recognised dining that celebrates Thailand’s rich flavours, every detail is designed to restore and inspire.

Whether it’s a leisurely all-day à la carte breakfast with sparkling wine served until 6pm, Candlelit Waterfall Dining (one of our most iconic experiences set deep in the jungle) or fresh local seafood by the sea, each meal invites guests to slow down, savour and simply be present.

20 Years of Meaningful Initiatives

Caring for our community and environment has always been at the heart of The Sarojin. True luxury, to us, goes hand in hand with responsibility – ensuring travel leaves a positive mark on both people and place. “One of the magical qualities of travel and tourism is the ability to bring different cultures together with respect, curiosity and genuine connection”.

Our Community Fund, established in 2004, laid the foundation for much of this work, supporting, fishing-fleet restoration, childcare support, school rebuilds and welfare projects following the 2004 tsunami. That spirit of compassion and collaboration continues to guide everything we do.

In 2022, we launched One Booking One Tree, a pledge to plant a mangrove or sea-almond tree for every booking made. Recognised with the Responsible Thailand Award for Green Steps, the project helps protect coastal ecosystems and invites guests to join in preserving Khao Lak’s natural beauty.

Through Sarojin Cares, we host monthly volunteer days for guests and staff, from tree planting and beach clean-ups to supporting local social enterprises such as Avautis, which provides employment for autistic adults and education for autistic children.

Our Yoga for the Community initiative offers twice-weekly yoga classes, with all proceeds donated to our Community Fund. Following its success, we’ve now introduced a pickleball court for upcoming Pickleball for the Community sessions, again supporting local causes.

Today, we’re proud to have completely eliminated single-use plastics from the resort, a milestone achieved through our in-house water-bottling plant, refillable amenities and the use of sustainable, eco-friendly materials across all operations.

The Next 20 Years

As we celebrate our past, we’re equally excited for what lies ahead: more thoughtful travel experiences, deeper community partnerships and stays that are both beautiful and beneficial.

Whether it’s dawn beach walks, seaside dining or enjoying peaceful moments on your terrace, our commitment for the next 20 years remains unchanged: offering luxury with a conscience, shaped by care, respect and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the community and environment around us.

Thank you to every guest, every team member, every tree planted and every handshake along the way. If you’ve stayed with us before – welcome back. If you’re still dreaming of visiting – there’s never been a better time. Here’s to the next 20 years of unforgettable memories and meaningful escapes at The Sarojin.
